Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force is investigating the source of ammunition supplied to the Yalimo armed criminal group (KKB) operating in Papua Mountains, Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin confirmed on Friday (21/2/2025).
The probe follows the arrest of Nikson Matuan, a member of Aske Mabel’s KKB faction, on 2 February 2025.
“Upon arrest, officers seized two AK-47 rifles and 46 rounds of ammunition,” Chief Renwarin said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Matuan admitted receiving ammunition from an unidentified individual, a claim currently under investigation.
Authorities also confiscated 71 rounds of ammunition from Aske Mabel, who had stolen four AK-47 rifles from Yalimo Sub-regional Police headquarters on 4 June 2024, while serving as a police officer. Mabel was officially dismissed from the police force on 27 December 2024.
Mabel was captured in his hometown of Abenaho following a community tip-off. He resisted arrest while armed, prompting officers to take decisive action in accordance with standard procedures.
