Under the Influence of Alcohol, Small Fights Turned to Building Burning

Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. Sarmi Sub-regional Police are currently investigating the alleged crime of burning down the house/camp of employees belonging to CV. ADIWIPI located in Waskey Village, East Sarmi District, Sarmi Regency, Papua Province on Sunday (2/23/2025)

Police officials explained that the incident occurred on Saturday, February 23, 2025 at around 23.30 pm, the reported party, together with six construction workers of CV. ADIWIPI held a liquor party at the camp located in Waskey Village, East Sarmi District, Sarmi Regency.

“The reported party, with the initials of MW, who was under the influence of alcohol felt offended by the witness with the initials of DD. DD reportedly poured the liquor unevenly, triggering MW and resulting in a fight between MW and DD,” explained the police.

Following the fight, MW then immediately went to look for DD, however unsuccessful. Feeling annoyed and angry, MW took kerosene in the kitchen and burned the mattress belonging to DD at the employee camp room owned by CV. ADIWIPI.

After burning down the room of DD, MW then immediately left the scene. The fire then spread into another room and eventually burned down the entire building.

It is known that the company CV. ADI WIPI suffered a loss of around IDR 300,000,000.

“Currently, MW and two of his friends have been taken and secured by the police to the police station for further investigation,” a police official concluded.
