“We cannot defend our nation with mere words, writings, or theories. Defense requires strength,” he said during a briefing for IndonesianMilitary (TNI) unit commanders at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Friday (7/2/2025).
President Prabowo highlighted that Indonesia’s Constitution, the 1945 State Constitution (UUD 1945), enshrines national security as a fundamental duty. The nation’s founders prioritized defense in their fight for independence, recognizing it as the state’s primary function.
He warned of the consequences faced by nations lacking adequate defense capabilities, stressing that Indonesia must remain vigilant. He urged TNI officers, as the country’s frontline protectors, to strengthen their commitment to national security.
The briefing followed President Prabowo’s first National Defense Council meeting as president, attended by 1,004 military officers from various ranks and branches.
