Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Gorontalo. The Gorontalo Regional Police has secured 20 alleged child predators in Mongolato Vllage, Gorontalo Regency.
Gorontalo Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Yos Guntur Yuni Fauris Susanto reveals the chronology behind the arrest of the 20 suspects.
He states that the case disclosure began when the girl didn’t return home after late midnight, prompting her father and others to search for her.
In the next morning, her father managed to reach her phone, but no one answered.
Then, her parents continue the search and heard an information form other that she was in Padebuolo yard, Gorontalo City.
After they picked her up to Telaga Sector Police, she was examined by the police and found that she was sexually abused by suspect RK. Police reports RK and his other friends forced teir way to the victim, causing immense trauma on the victim.
“Poloce then immediately move fast upon hearing fhe news from the victim’s family. The 20 suspects were immediately arrested by the police and now they’re beng examine for futther investigation process,” says Yous Guntur.
Yos also stated that the suspects were charged with Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and Article 82 paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 concerning the Criminal Act of Molestation, with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
“We are handling this case very seriously, especially when there’s a minor involved . We will make sure that the law enforcement process proceeded accordingly while we provide support the family,” conclude Yos.
Gorontalo Regional Police appeals the public to be aware with their children and protect them from the potential of sexual abuse. Also, support from the public is required to prevent any similar incident.
