Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correctional Services Yusril Ihza Mahendra has directed the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections to resolve administrative hurdles impeding foreign investments in Indonesia.
The move came after a meeting with Japanese business leaders from The Jakarta Japan Club (JJC) at the ministry’s office in Jakarta on Friday (29/11/2024). The delegation raised concerns about frequent immigration inspections targeting company executives and board members visiting Indonesia.
“These executives are not permanent residents of Indonesia and legally aren’t required to hold work visas or stay permits, as they oversee operations remotely from Japan,” Minister Yusril explained, as quoted by antaranews.com.
He emphasized that foreign management delegating responsibilities to Indonesian employees is beneficial for the local workforce.
“A conducive and welcoming environment is essential for investors and corporate representatives operating in Indonesia,” Minister Yusril added.
Shinichi Kikuchihara, the Chairman of JJC, thanked Minister Yusril’s prompt response. The meeting was also attended by Japanese Embassy Trade Attaché Hanawa Hiroyuki, along with senior Indonesian officials.
