Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia’s Immigration Department (JIM) arrested 29 Indonesian citizens, including an alleged “transporter” in a human trafficking ring, during a recent operation in Kajang, Selangor.

“Following two weeks of intelligence gathering, our team intercepted a suspicious vehicle and apprehended a 42-year-old Indonesian, identified as ‘Jon,’ who is suspected of acting as a transporter for the trafficking network,” said Immigration Director General Zakaria Shaaban, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The raid also led to the arrest of two other Indonesians suspected to be part of the syndicate. Malaysian authorities confiscated 14 Indonesian passports, cash amounting to RM13,430 (about Rp 47.5 million), and a Toyota Vios car believed to have been used for transporting migrants.

According to JIM, the syndicate charged each migrant RM1,500 to RM2,500 (approximately Rp 5.3 million to Rp 8.9 million) and has reportedly been in operation for six months, moving individuals through unauthorized entry points.

All detainees are now held at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Center for further investigation under Malaysia’s Anti-Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants Act (ATIPSOM) 2007.
