Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Shenzhen. Indonesian men’s singles badminton star Jonatan Christie finished as the runner-up at the BWF Super 750 China Masters 2024 after a hard-fought final against Denmark’s Anders Antonsen on Sunday (24/11/2024).
Jonatan, seeded sixth, lost in straight games, 15-21, 13-21, to the third-seeded Dane. The match lasted 51 minutes, showcasing intense rallies and strategic plays.
In the opening game, Jonatan struggled with court control, trailing significantly at 6-16 midway through. Despite a brief surge that reduced the gap to 11-16, he couldn’t sustain the momentum, and Antonsen closed out the game 21-15.
The second game began more evenly, with Jonatan taking a narrow 8-6 lead. However, Antonsen responded with sharp play to secure an 11-8 interval lead. Jonatan attempted a more aggressive approach but was unable to break Antonsen’s defense. The Dane sealed the match 21-13.
“Anders played a solid game, and I struggled to execute strategy in key moments,” Jonatan said post-match, according to antaranews.com.
Indonesia’s title hopes now rest on men’s doubles pair Sabar Gutama and Reza Isfahani, who will face South Korea’s Seo Seung Jae and Jin Yong in their first Super 750 final.
