Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. The Ministry of Agriculture will import 200,000 dairy cows by the end of 2025 to boost milk production for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, aimed at improving children’s nutrition.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono announced that a new government regulation now allows imports from countries beyond Australia.
“With the regulation finalized, we can source cows from additional registered countries. We expect 200,000 cows to arrive by year-end,” he said on Tuesday at the Presidential Palace, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The ministry is preparing land to accommodate the imported livestock while encouraging investment in local dairy production.
“This is an investment initiative, not just an import program. Companies are establishing dairy factories here and bringing in cows,” Deputy Minister Sudaryono explained.
Already, 160 domestic and international companies have pledged support. An initial batch of 50 pregnant Frisian Holstein cows from Australia has arrived, marking the first step toward the government’s goal of adding 1 million dairy cows over the next five years.
