Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. The Ministry of Human Rights has formed a special task force to address U.S. President Donald Trump’s mass deportation policy targeting undocumented immigrants.
Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai said the task force will collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to ensure the protection of Indonesian citizens who might be affected.
“Early preparation is crucial as some of our citizens could be impacted,” he said in a written release on Friday (24/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Minister Pigai noted that some Indonesians in the U.S. have unresolved residency issues, such as overstaying tourist visas or using falsified political asylum claims.
The task force, named the Citizen Protection Team, will operate under the Directorate General of Services and Compliance.
President Trump, inaugurated on 20 January 2025, highlighted mass deportation as a priority during his campaign, proposing military involvement and emergency measures to enforce immigration laws.
