Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. Flash floods hit Brazil and killed 39 people, while 68 other people were still missing on Saturday (4/5/24).
This disaster occurred in southern Brazil, specifically in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Brazil’s Civil Defense Agency said the flooding was caused by days of heavy rain.
“As a human being, heart is saddened. But I, as the Governor, will be strong for people and will not be shaken by it. We will do everything with focus, care, and discipline,” said Governor Eduardo Leite, quoted from AP, on Saturday (5/4/2024).
Head of Meteorologist at the National Natural Disaster Monitoring and Warning Center, Marcelo Seluchi, says the downpour in the region has occurred since Monday (4/5/2024). He further says that the downpour would still continue after the weekend.
The Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva confirms that the flash flood has taken many lives. Luiz even says that the flood is one of the biggest that have ever happened in Brazil.
“It was like never before in the history of Brazil, such rain like that in one location,” said Lula.
