Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jayapura. Damai Cartenz Task Force has transferred Nikson Matuan, a member of the Yalimo Armed Criminal Group (KKB), to Papua Regional Police Headquarters in Jayapura for further investigation.
Nikson was airlifted from Elelim, Yalimo Regency, to Sentani Airport, Jayapura, on Thursday(13/2/2025) before being taken into custody by the Papua Police Directorate of Special Crimes.
Authorities say Nikson was involved in the 17 January 2025 attack that killed Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officer Briptu Iqbal Anwar Arif on the Trans Papua Highway. He was arrested on 2 February 2025 with two AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and magazines.
“The seized firearms were taken from the Yalimo Police by Askel Mabel, a former officer who has since joined the KKB,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Head of Famai Cartenz Task Force, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Askel, now a fugitive, remains at large, while authorities continue efforts to recover two additional stolen weapons in KKB possession.
