The event was initiated by the Chief of PR and Press Division of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, themed “Bakohumas (PR Coordination Agency) Communication Strategy to Support Development Acceleration in Papua”, was held at Aston Hotel, Jayapura, on Thursday (15/07/21).
The event was attended by Chief of Staff of 17th/Cendrawasih Military Regional Command, Armed Forces Brigadier General Bambang Trisnohadi; 2nd Assistant of People Welfare Board of Papua Regional Secretary, Muhammad Musaad; Regional Superintendent of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Alfred Papara; Head of Communication and Informatics Agency of Papua, Jeri Agus Yudianto; Lecturer of Communications Department of Papua Muhammadiyah University, Rhidian Yasminta Wasaraka; Primary Officials of Papua Regional Police; and representatives of Media/Telecommunication Press, Papua Communication and Informatics Agency, State-owned Enterprises, and millennial youths.
“In this globalisation era, we are faced with many dynamics and phenomenons. However, if we handled it correctly and commonly, then we can control and handle it properly. Otherwise, it would become a problem”, Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police, Rudi Sudiarto, said.
Deputy Chief of Papua Regional Police also said that “we are a developing agency. Agency in a structure is a duality. In the duality, stimuli, organism, and response communication could form. What we are forming is a structure where the formation is filled by the strong agency. The strong agency could build a strong and proper structure and create other structures”.
According to the one-star general, a good agency could build a string duality structure. In the world’s problems, such as interpersonal crimes or other issues, what people facing is the one that requires an agency to face it.
“Therefore, those agencies must be accommodated through a strong organisation structure”, he concluded.
Meanwhile, Chief of Staff of 17th/Cendrawasih Military Regional Command, Armed Forces Brigadier General Bambang Trisnohadi, said that “We know our world is in telecommunication era, in which we are heavily depended on the internet”.
“The technological development occurred and utilised as effectively as possible. Even now, information could be a weapon”, Armed Forces Brigadier General Bambang Trisnohadi said.
People face difficulty in separating which information is accurate and which is a hoax. The effect of social media utilisation could lead to social fragmentation.
“As we know how they propagate us between the Armed Forces-Police and the residents on the mountains. Therefore, an agency is required to coordinate information through PR/information medium”, Trisnohadi said.
Chief of Staff of 17th/Cendrawasih Military Regional Command said that this agency is expected to repress untrue information so the people can quickly know the true, exact, and accurate information.
“Internal strategy must be conducted directly on the field by the PR agency. They also must periodically coordinate and evaluate, also provide clarity in budgeting, revitalising, and coordinating between Central Government, Armed Forces-Police Headquarters, and international media”, he concludes.
Meanwhile, Chief of PR and Press Division of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, explains that Bakohumas is a container for Papua’s PR board as an agency or PR coordination agency.
“Using this agency, we can work in PR activity so that it could be controlled properly”, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal said.
Chief of PR and Press Division of Papua Regional Police hopes that the launch of the Bakohumas Papua website could ease access to valid information to the public.
