Defense Ministry Backs RI-France Partnership to Boost Local Defense Production

Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Tangerang. The Ministry of Defense  has welcomed a collaboration between Indonesia’s PT Sentra Surya Ekajaya (SSE) and France’s Texelis to strengthen the domestic production of defense equipment for the Indonesian Military (TNI).

The partnership launched the P2 Tiger APC 4×4 armored vehicle, designed to meet the needs of the Indonesian Ar.

“We fully support initiatives like this. The government is committed to building a robust defense industry ecosystem through international partnerships and local innovation,” said Major General Piek Budyakto, the Ministry’s Director General of Defense Potential, during the launch on Thursday (23/1/2025).

The 18-ton P2 Tiger, assembled by PT SSE with Texelis’ expertise, offers better engine power, maneuverability, and protection.

The Ministry aims to increase local content in defense equipment from 40% to 70%, in line with its vision of defense self-reliance.

“This collaboration reflects our goal to develop domestic capabilities while adopting advanced foreign technology,” Director Piek added.
