Bogor Police Investigate Media Office Arson by Unknown Perpetrators

Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Bogor.  The Bogor City Sub-regional Police in West Java are investigating the suspected arson attack on a local media office in Bantarjati, allegedly carried out by unidentified arsonists early Saturday morning (28/12/2024).

Bogor City Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Bismo Teguh Prakoso, confirmed that a crime scene investigation at the media office, namely Harian Pakuan Raya (PAKAR) had been conducted by the police’s Inafis team. 

“We are coordinating with the Forensic Laboratory and will proceed with witness examinations,” Chief Bismo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The Bogor City Police Chief of Criminal Investigation, Assistant Senior Inspector Aji Riznaldi Nugroho, revealed that preliminary leads on the cause of the fire have been identified. 

“We are collecting additional evidence, interviewing witnesses, analyzing lab results, and reviewing CCTV footage,” he explained.

Eyewitness Aditia, an online motorcycle taxi driver, reported seeing two unidentified men on a motorbike at the scene. One of the suspects allegedly carried a box and a bottle of gasoline, set the front of the office ablaze, and fled the scene with his accomplice.

Harian PAKAR’s Editor-in-Chief, David Rizar Nugroho, urged authorities to thoroughly investigate the case. 

“We remain committed to upholding an independent and free press. Intimidation will not silence us,” he said.
