“The complainant and victim withdrew their police report sincerely and based on humanitarian considerations,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The case stemmed from a December 2024 clash between PT MEG employees and Rempang residents. The complaint led to three residents—Siti Hawa (67), Sani Rio (37), and Abu Bakar (54)—being named suspects. Their charges included unlawful deprivation of liberty and assault.
The complainant cited concern for Hawa, an elderly woman, and the upcoming Ramadan as reasons for the withdrawal. Police will now conduct a case review before formally closing the matter.
Meanwhile, two PT MEG employees remain under investigation for assault, though some complainants have requested restorative justice.
