“We have detained RF, RM, and MCA,” said Bandung Police Chief Senior Superintendent Budi Sartono on Saturday (4/1/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The suspects, all 17 year olds, admitted to following the tourists out of curiosity as they filmed in English. Suspect RF claimed the touch was accidental due to a narrow street, while suspect RM admitted to touching the woman’s bag. Suspect MCA denied any involvement.
Police investigation started after a viral video shared by the victims showed them being followed while recording a vlog. In the video, the unidentified individuals were seen entering the frame and allegedly touching the woman’s back.
Chief Budi Sartono confirmed that the Singaporean victims have been contacted via email, and the police are continuing to investigate the case, which is being handled by the Women and Children Protection Unit since the suspects are minors.
