Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. Apple has reached an agreement with the Indonesian government, allowing the tech giant to market the previously banned iPhone 16 series.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita announced on Wednesday  (26/2/2025)that a crucial agreement with Apple has been finalized.

“With the completion of the negotiations between the Ministry of Industry and Apple, the process of issuing the TKDN certificate for Apple can begin,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com, referring to the local content requirement..

The five-month negotiation secured several key outcomes: Apple will invest US$160 million under the innovation investment scheme, establishing the Apple Software Innovation and Technology Institute and the Apple Professional Developer Acade in Indonesia.

Apple has also cleared its outstanding US$10 million payment related to the 2020–2023 TKDN extension. To meet regulatory sanctions, Apple partnered with a global value chain (GVC) company to invest locally.

Once the local content requirement certification process concludes, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs will authorize the distribution of the iPhone 16 series.

Indonesia had banned iPhone 16 sales since October 2024 due to Apple’s failure to meet the local content requirement, mandating 35% local components for products sold domestically.
