Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid has imposed severe sanctions on eight Tangerang Land Office officials involved in the controversial sea fences land certification case in Tangerang, Banten.
“Six officials have been removed from their positions, while two others received heavy sanctions,” he said during a hearing with Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Thursday (30/1/2025).
He did not disclose full names but mentioned initials, including a former Tangerang Land Office Head identified as JS and several ex-division heads. Their involvement was confirmed through an internal investigation by the Inspectorate, according to antaranews.com.
The case revolves around illegal issuance of land certificates for a sea wall, with authorities already revoking 50 Right to Build, known locally as HGB, and Ownership Certificates, or SHM, primarily linked to PT Intan Agung Makmur.
Further investigations revealed 263 questionable land certificates in coastal waters, involving multiple companies and individuals. The ministry is continuing its review, with additional legal actions expected.
