AFC Fines PSSI for Unauthorized International Friendly Match

Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta.  The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has fined Indonesia’s football association (PSSI) for failing to meet approval deadlines for an international friendly match between Persiraja Banda Aceh and Malaysia’s Penang FC on 6 November 2024.

The match, held at H. Darmatula Stadium in Banda Aceh, violated AFC’s Article 11, which requires teams to obtain approval at least 14 days before kickoff.

“PSSI only submitted the authorization request on 26 and 29 October 2024,” AFC said in a statement on Saturday (8/2/2025).

Due to the late submission—just 12 days before the match—AFC imposed a $1,250 fine (approximately Rp 20 million). PSSI has 30 days to pay the penalty, as outlined in AFC’s Code of Ethics and Discipline.
