Patrick Kluivert has been officially announced as the new head coach of the Indonesian national football team, replacing Shin Tae-yong, the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) announced in its official website and social media on Wednesday (8/1/2025).. 

A video introduction highlighted Kluivert’s career as a player for Ajax, FC Barcelona, and the Dutch national team, as well as his role as an assistant coach under Louis van Gaal with the Netherlands from 2012 to 2014, according to antaranews.com.

Kluivert has signed a two-year contract (2025–2027) with an option for extension. His immediate goal is to guide Indonesia to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Assisting him will be Dutch coaches Alex Pastoor and Denny Landzaat, along with two Indonesian assistants.

A legendary striker, Kluivert scored 206 club goals and 40 for the Netherlands. His coaching career includes stints with Curaçao and Adana Demirspor. He will arrive in Indonesia on 11 January 2024, with his debut set for World Cup qualifiers in March this year.
