The historic achievement was sealed after men’s doubles pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin won a 3-1 semifinal match over Thailand at Conson Gymnasium, Qingdao, China, on Saturday (15/2/2025), according to antaranews.com.
Fikri/Marthin defeated Peeratchai Sukphun/Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-13, 21-16, ensuring Indonesia’s place in the final. This marks the country’s best performance in BAMTC, surpassing its 2019 semifinal finish.
Earlier, Indonesia fell behind 0-1 when mixed doubles pair Dejan Ferdinansyah/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti lost 13-21, 20-22 to Supak Jomkoh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
However, young men’s singles player Alwi Farhan leveled the score at 1-1 with a 21-13, 21-18 victory over Panitchapon Teeraratsakul.
Women’s singles player Putri Kusuma Wardani then displayed dominance, defeating Busanan Ongbamrungphan 21-10, 21-8, putting Indonesia ahead 2-1.
In the final scheduled on Sunday evening, Indonesia will face China.
