Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) requested banks to block approximately 8,500 accounts associated with online gambling activities throughout 2024, based on data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.
OJK’s Acting Head of Literacy, Financial Inclusion, and Communication, M. Ismail Riyadi, said on Wednesday (1/1/2025) that the measure is part of a broader effort to combat online gambling, which has significant economic and financial implications.
OJK is coordinating with law enforcement and other regulatory agencies as a member of the Online Gambling Eradication Task Force, established under Presidential Decree No. 21 of 2024.
Banks are also required to implement Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and report suspicious transactions to the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
EDD involves rigorous scrutiny of high-risk customers or transactions, supplementing standard Customer Due Diligence (CDD) procedures.
OJK has also issued Regulation No. 15 of 2024, mandating accurate financial reporting from banks to enhance oversight and enable timely corrective actions.
“Accurate reports allow for quicker detection of potential issues, ensuring effective responses,” Ismail said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
