Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has announced the establishment of Indonesia’s first bullion bank, set to be inaugurated on 26 February 2025, at the Merdeka Palace.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday (17/2/2025), he explained that the new institution will serve as a dedicated facility for storing domestically mined gold—a resource that has largely been exported without secure domestic storage.
“We will form a bullion bank; until now, we have not had a bank for our gold in Indonesia,” President Prabowo said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The initiative aims to maximize the economic benefits of natural resource exports by ensuring that gold earnings remain within the country.
In a related move, the President also unveiled Government Regulation No. 8 of 2025, which mandates that exporters deposit foreign exchange earnings from natural resource exports in domestic banks within 12 months.
