Bid TIK Polda Kepri/”>Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Magelang. Thousands of Buddhists gathered at Borobudur Temple’s Lumbini Park in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday (8/2/2025) to commemorate Magha Puja.

The event’s highlight was a pradaksina, a ritual circumambulation of Borobudur Temple, performed by monks and devotees.

“This celebration is more than just a religious observance—it is a reminder of the Buddha’s teachings and the significance of virtue, wisdom, and purity of heart and mind,” said Supriyadi, Director-General of Buddhist Affairs at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Magha Puja marks the historic occasion when 1,250 monks spontaneously assembled before Buddha and were ordained directly by him.
