Bid TIK Polda Kepri – Surabaya. East Java authorities have transferred  onThursday (14/11/2024) 48 high-risk inmates to the high-security prison in Nusakambangan Island, Central Java, to ensure stability within regional facilities.

Led by East Java Correctional Division Head Heri Azhari, the transfer involved a stopover at Madiun Youth Prison.

“Most of the transferred inmates are drug offenders, with 43 inmates, alongside three convicted of robbery, one of murder, and one of child protection violations,” he explained, as reported by antaranews.com.

The inmates came from seven large East Java prisons, including 18 from Madiun Youth Prison, 14 from Madiun Prison, and others from Surabaya, Pamekasan, Sidoarjo, and Malang.

Regional Office Head Heni Yuwono noted that their records indicated potential for disruption at their original facilities.

In Nusakambangan Island, each inmate will be housed individually in maximum-security cells under strict supervision.

Heni explained that evaluations had shown that these inmates were unresponsive to rehabilitation programs, prompting the transfer to improve oversight and security.
